The Arrival

Tuesday night was the series premiere of the new show V. It is a remake of another show from 1983, which was also called V. I thought that it was great and I liked the idea of the show. The plot in the show is that aliens, call themselves the Visitors, come to Earth seeking a relationship with humans and some people embrace the "V's" and others don't trust them. I thought that it was a good show and was different from other shows that are on TV, even though this is a remake.

The show V started by showing the main characters starting their day and where they are in life when all of a sudden little earthquakes start throughout New York City. After all the human characters are introduced there is a big earthquake and people start to notice that there is a spaceship over downtown. It later turns out that there are 29 spaceships over major cities throughout the world. Everyone was nervous and panicking after the arrival of the spaceships and the on the bottom of the ships a screen appears with the leader of the Visitors, Anna, addressing the people of Earth telling them why they have arrived on Earth. Anna told the people that all they wanted was to use a common mineral found on Earth and use it to fuel their ships so that they can leave and in until then they will share their advance technology and medicine with the world. There are many people who accept them with open arms, like Tyler Evans, but there are others who are secretly leading a resistance against the Visitors for many years, like Georgie.

There are 16 main characters on the show V. The human characters are Erica Evans, Father Jack , Chad Decker, Tyler Evans, Valerie , Brandon, Georgie, and Roy. Erica Evans is the mother of Tyler Evans and is a FBI agent who is skeptical about the Visitors which causes her to eventually join the secret resistance. Father Jack is a priest in New York who thinks that the Visitors wail cause more problems for humans than good by causing them to turn away from god and become devoted to the Visitors, he also joins the secret resistance along with Erica. Chad Decker is a news anchor who has been chosen by the visitors to be their voice in the human news world, he works closely with Anna and she seems to trust him more than other humans she has met with. Chad was also the first human to have an interview with a Visitor. Tyler Evans is a 17 year old boy who after going onto one of the Visitors motherships meets Lisa and decides that he is going to become one of their Peace Ambassadors, Tyler is one of the people who welcomes them completely. Brandon is one of Tyler's friend and is the reason that he gets onto the mothership in the first place. Roy is one of the people who goes to Father Jacks church and is one of the people who welcomes the Visitors because they used their advanced medicine to cure him of his disease that confined him to a wheelchair. Georgie is the last human main character on the show. Georgie is the leader of the mysterious secret resistance against the Visitors, he says that the Visitors have been on Earth for decades and just now revealed themselves, he turned out to be right by the end of the episode.

There are not many main characters who are Visitors, there are only three so far. The leader of the Visitors is Anna. Anna is the face of the Visitors, she is the one that is the face of the Visitors. Anna also comes to trust Chad Decker to be the only human that she will talk through, all of the important things that Anna has to say to the humans she wants to say it through Chad. Lisa is another character who is a Visitor. Lisa is the leader of the Peace Ambassador program in New York. Tyler seems to have a crush on Lisa and she uses it to make him join the ambassadors. The peace Ambassadors are people who spend a lot of time with the "V's" and then go back to the neighbourhoods and spread the message of the Visitors. Marcus is the last main character who is a Visitor. Marcus seems to be Anna's assistant or her secretary or something. Marcus did not have a big part in the first episode and might not be such a big deal in the show.

I thought that the new series V was great. I think that it is a good idea and is different from other shows on right now. I like the idea that the aliens look like normal people and seem to want to help humans. I think that the helping of the humans might not last that long because I don't think that there would be a need to have a resistance if the Visitors are going to help. I thought that is was strange that the Visitors kept saying "We are of peace, always.", i thought that they might be trying to convince the humans that they are peaceful so that they will not attack them and they can try to earn more trust from the humans for some reason.I look forward to seeing where the story goes and how the characters will react to the events of the last few minutes of the episode. I would rate the new series V 4.5 out of 5.

Rise of the Bounty Hunters

"A lesson learned is a lesson earned"

Last night was the season premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is a cartoon that takes place after Star Wars Episode II : Attack of the Clones and before Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It follows Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi and there army of clone troopers throughout the Clone Wars and on many different planets. They are always assisted by their right hand clones Captain Rex and Commander Cody. In the show Anakin has a padawan learner that trains with Anakin where ever he goes as his student, her name is Ahsoka Tano. I like this show better than the Star Wars movies because every episode is only half an hour and has a complete story within one episode or sometimes two or three. Another reason why I think that the show is better that the movies is that this shows the gap between the movies and show how Anakin gets angrier and darker on his path to becoming Darth Vader, in Attack of the Clones Anakin was a great Jedi Knight and then all of a sudden in Revenge of the Sith he is a angry person who is easily converted to a Sith Lord. I thought that the change was too quick.

The main idea behind the show is the Clone Wars in the Galactic Republic. The Jedi have been given the task of commanding a army of millions of clones to fight against a army of battle droids lead by Count Dooku, a Sith Lord. Count Dooku is head of the Separatist movement and is trying to destroy the Republic so that the Sith can take over the galaxy. With the Jedi as generals they have started to lose their way because the are acting a generals instead of keepers of the peace and the risk allowing the Sith to exploit this weakness.

The season premiere was good because it showed how Anakin's teachings have made Ahsoka more like him, disobedient and full of herself. The second season is more about how bounty hunters influenced the war for the Separatist Alliance. In this episode Darth Sidious hired a bounty hunter to steal a holocron from the Jedi Temple. With this holocron he would be able to hunt down another Jedi and find the location of all of the children throughout the universe who are to become future Jedi. Darth Sidious wanted to get to them first so that he could find them and train them to become Sith instead of Jedi. Ahsoka was really the hero of this episode because she was the one who found the intruder and fought her off so that the could get information out of her. The only reason that Ahsoka was able to find the intruder was because she was being punished by the Jedi Council for disobeying orders from her Jedi master, Anakin Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a good show because of the different types of characters and the different roles that they play in the war. The clone troopers are all identical in physically, but they are all individuals based on who they serve. Anakin's troopers are more reckless and will do whatever they can to get the job done, however Obi-Wan's troopers are more safe and stick to all of the rules and regulations. The clones are all individuals instead of being identical and think the same. This show has all of the action that the movies have but it is easier to film animation and not having to budget special effects into a movie. I would give the season premiere of season two of Star Wars: The Clone Wars a 4 out of 5.

Season Premiere: Smallville

The ninth season of Smallville premiered friday night at 8:00 PM. If you have never seen Smallville or do not know what it is about; it is about Clark Kent's life before he was Superman. The series started in his freshman year of high school in Smallville, Kansas and now nine years later they have all grown up and live in Metropolis.

I thought that the sesaon premiere was not as good as other seasons. I thought that much of the episode could have been done differently and that most of the characters lives should have been changed much more than portrayed after the events of the eighth season finale. At the end of the eighth season Lois Lane was at the Daily Planet and put on a ring that sent her to the thirty-first century; at the begining of this sesaon Lois returned but with no memory of what happened. This is totally insane, if I was sent one thousand years into the future I would definitely rememeber, there is no way anybody would forget that. Jimmy Olsen died at the end of the eighth season and this resulted in Clark Kent deciding that it was time for him to fulfil his destiny and become the hero that he was meant to be. At the beginging of the ninth season Clark leaves his Kryptonian training and goes back to Metropolis to see Lois and say goodbye; but all of the problems in Metropolis cause him to stay and put off his training to stop the problems that only he can solve. I thought that it would have been more beneficial for everyone, including Lois, if Clark had not decided to stay in Metropolis because if he finished his training than he would be better equiped to protect the world.

There were some good parts of the show to. One good part of the show was at the very begining when Clark saved a derailed train and used his heat vision to burn the Superman symbol into the next building and everyone gathering around to look at it as he observed from the top of a building. I think that it is great the Clark is finally trying to learn how to fly, because it is insane that every other Kryptonian on the show could fly within minutes of getting their powers but Clark has had his powers for almost 22 years and still can not fly. In my opinion the best part of the episode was when Chloe, Jimmy Olsen's wife, begged Clark to use his time travelling ring to go back in time and save Jimmy from being killed because she thought that it was their fault that he died, and it was. The best part of this scene was when Chlark refused and Chole told him that it was good that Clark was totally embracing his Kryptonian side and suppressing all of his humanity. Overall I would give the premiere of the ninth season of Smallville a 3.5 out of 5

Season Premieres: House/Heroes

Monday night was the season premiere of the sixth season of House and the fourth season of Heroes. House was alright for the premiere, it was a two hour episode about House trying to get out of the psychiatric hospital that he was admitted to at the end of season five. I thought that the episode was kind of dumb. First House does not seem like the kind of guy that would admit himself into a psychiatric hospital, he would try to diagnose himself until he was right or until he died. Once House was in the hospital he was choosing not to take his medication because he thought that he did not need it. If he thought that he did not need medication than why would he admit himself into a hospital? Throughout the entire episode it was obvious that House did not want to be in the hospital, but since he checked himself in he should be able to leave whenever he wants to, but the hospital will not let him. So eventually House gives up on his idea that he does not need help and he starts to take the medication and he gets better. I thought that it was strange that the hospital would let him leave so suddenly because he has been better for a little while. In the end House got want he wanted and was allowed to leave and go home. I thought the the season premiere of the sixth season of House was overall not so good and would have a rating of 2 out of 5.

After House was the premiere of the fourth season of Heroes. Heroes is a good show, even though it is almost exactly the same as X-Men. This episode of Heroes was very good. Most of the Heroes from previous seasons have found ways to use their powers for the greater good such as being a paramedic, running a hero help line or being a detective; but some of them are using their powers to hurt people like by drowning them, or torturing people from within their own mind. Since almost all of the Heroes on the show use their powers to hurt or to help people there are some that do not use their powers at all. There were new problems for all of the Heroes as there always are and they are all trying to stay away from each other so that they are not put back into the fighting between the Heroes and the villains. There is really only one consistent villain in this show, Sylar. At the end of the last season Sylar was made to believe that he was a different person and was made to look like this other person. Now Sylar, who thinks he is Nathan Petrelli, is starting to get his powers back and starting to think that he is someone else. While Matt Parkman in Los Angeles is starting to see Sylar because Matt was the one who went into Sylar's head and made him think he was Nathan. Most of the Heroes are trying to live normal lives and trying to keep people from knowing about their past and their powers such as Claire, Noah, Mohinder and Matt. Some are trying to make people think that they are Heroes like Hiro and Ando in Japan who started to run a Hero helpline for people in need. Overall I think that the fourth season premiere of Heroes was great and would get a rating of 4 out of 5
